In this paper we will deeply analyze the autonomy of the city of Buenos Aires, comparing it with Argentina’s 23 provinces. At the same time, we will consider the problems derived from the interpretations of the Supreme Court and we will try to prove that the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires should be treated in the same was as a province is currently treated. In order to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the subject will briefly present some historical facts starting from the federalization in 1880. Also, we will emphasize on those issues that, I believe, violate equality. We will try to make clear which are the legal consequences of not being considered a province and, finally, we will start a preliminary approach to the study of the relation between townships and municipalities.
