This paper examines the approach so far taken on domestic violence allegations in the matter of international return proceedings administered under the 1980 Hague Convention. It is aimed at making readers realize the paramount importance that a thor-ough analysis of such allegations by judges and central authorities bears, given the seri-ousness of both domestic and gender violence, which impair the well-being and health of all children and women affected. Considering the international nature of the referred legal instrument, the approach to the topic shall also be international, yet mostly supplemented with information and examples from Argentina.
